I can never emphasize the importance of applying sunscreen when going out and about under the sun. Yes you might think that you’re protected under the shade of your umbrella, or the tinted windows of your car but in fact, those are not enough to protect your face and from the damaging effects of UVA and UVB which in the long run can lead to skin aging, hyperpigmentation, or worse skin cancer. Even when indoors, sunlight can still pass through the openings of a building or structure. However, many of you are weary of using sunscreen perhaps due to the sticky feeling, or perhaps the overly expensive cost of buying a sunblock or sunscreen.

With this, I have come up with an updated list of affordable and local sunscreen brands to help you start including sunscreen or sunblock in your skin care regimen. This list is compatible with dry to oily skin combinations.

This may be perhaps one of the most unusual reviews that I’ve done so far. HAHA. Digressing a bit from skin care and beauty products, I'll be reviewing the infamous tool that will let you see, examine, and even clean the insides of your ear! Shocking right? Personally, I’m not really a big fan of digital ear cleaners, but out of curiosity I decided to grab myself one and see for myself what it would feel like and perhaps think of ways how it could be useful, and also the pros and cons that comes along with using similar devices. 

The retail starting price of Xiaomi’s BeBird R1 is as low as P650.00, by far this is the only affordable entry-level digital ear cleaning device out there. From the box, you’ll be able to get the actual cleaning device, a USB cable, and an extra cleaning tip. Judging by the looks of it, the tool is sturdy, portable, and handy.

Long are the days of breakouts! Well, not thanks to rejuvenating sets, you all know how much I resent Rejuvenating sets and how ruinous it could be on the skin. Thus, Garden Lab PH took care of that issue and helped me achieve clear skin. For well over a year I’ve ditch the sets, and gradually made my way with using oils to help my skin. Although, I must say as a warning, don’t get too excited, but carefully assess your needs, your budget, the formulation, and most of all, your skin type before even trying oils in a frenzy!

As being known to be as a solid user of oils, one of you suggested this brand called Garden Lab Ph, and told me to give this brand a shot. You also recommended my all time favorite Rose hip oil to be combined with Tamanu oil. I too honestly never heard of this oil before, but when I looked into it, it’s actually a good oil to help with acne. 

And thanks to Garden Lab Ph, the majority of their products are packaged in a very informative way. Descriptions, directions, and the formulation as well as the type of oil they are made of, are clearly written in each bottle, not only that but what comes in handy is also the way in which the main use and function of the oil is put in front of the bottle.

Upon my research, Tamanu Oil has been widely used across the Polynesian region and some parts of Asia. It has properties that are anti inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant, and is even known to have properties that will repair UV Skin damage. Just like Turmeric oil, which Garden Lab Ph has combined, seems a good combination to treat wound, scars, rashes, insect bites, and acne.

Tired of hunching but yet keep on forgetting to maintain your posture? Worry no more with a little less than a thousand pesos you can now finally avail a smart posture corrector that surely will not make you forget, and remind you to straighten up that hunchback of yours! Haha. :)

Personally, I myself also struggle with keeping my posture straight at all times. Being an educator, part-time vlogger, and blogger, there is a lot of instances that require me to be in front of the computer for long hours, either to edit a vlog or blog, or perhaps do paperwork, lessons, conduct online classes, and attend to the concerns of my students, I often forget about my posture and concentrate in doing my job and what’s required of my at that particular moment.  Back at it again with another honest review! 

This time it might surprise you to hear that Careline, which is known to be one of the most well known cosmetic companies in the country,  has finally started to invest in skin care products releasing several products and sets that are well suited for every young Filipina and Filipino in mind. Perhaps let’s put their newly launched Skin Care hero set to the test whether, if truly it is as they claim to be, “better than basic.”

The Skin Hero Set comes in four products beginning with the Captain Cleanser, followed by the Power toner, Super Serum, and then finally the Wonder Moisturizer that are powered by active ingredients such as their AHA, BHA, and PHA cleanser and toner that is followed through by their Niacinamide serum and moisturizer, skin hero set is designed to fight acne, maintain elasticity of the skin as well as brighten, and smoothen uneven skin tone. But, what’s wonderful about this is that it comes at an affordable starting price of P395.00, and can be purchased in department stores such as Watsons and also online through Lazada and Shopee.

It is indeed a very promising set that contains products that are aimed and targeted on young Filipinas and Filipinos that are new to skin care. However it could have been better if they also added a sunscreen in the set in order to fully not just maintain and repair the skin, but also add protection for the skin.

Let the LAWbanan for the Grand Dupe Commence! APOLLO VS. VASELINE

Wouldn't it be nice if your lips would stay luscious 24-7? Smooth, subtly Red and kissable? Or perhaps even just for a moment you might desire to have a red or healthy looking lips all the while as having a strict budget. Well I know just the thing to suggest, the Apollo lip balm or the Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips. With both priced reasonably and affordably, I am very sure that you won’t regret giving either a shot, but the question is who will stand as the most bang for the buck and the grand dupe of one of my most favorite Mac Cosmetics’ Hint of Colour Lip Oil?

Similarities

Off the bat, the most obvious similarities from both products is that both contain petroleum jelly and pigment that will give you lip moisture, lip protection, and a hint of pinkish-reddish pigment for a healthy looking lips that are not too overpowering. And this I think is very suitable if you want to achieve that no makeup look for women, and also for men. Lastly, both products are affordable and reasonably priced.

Differences

Now for the tough part, side by side and in comparison, it is worth noting that there are also differences with each product that makes each unique in its own right, such as the packaging, product consistency and formulation, scent and pigment. With the uniqueness of each product, I will only be mentioning some of the pros that stood out from my experience. Vaseline

If you are looking for a lip balm that has little pigment that smells nice (Rose scent) when applied, then perhaps Vaseline is the way to go. Although priced a little higher at P125.00 compared to Apollo.
